Yay! Summer is here, but don’t let boredom creep in. Let Pack 378 provide you with FREE Summer Fun!
While you are attending any of our many activities throughout the Summer, your scout can earn one or both of the following Cub Scout Awards.
National Summertime Pack Award:
This can be earned once each year for the Tiger rank through the Webelos rank. It is a pin with a distinctive color based on the rank. Scouts can earn this pin simply by attending one Pack activity each month of the summer (June, July, and August). This could include Summer camp, a Pack meeting, or a summer activity like the parade or bicycle rodeo. Your child’s den leader will note your scout’s attendance and will be awarded automatically. All you have to do is show up!
Cub Scouts Outdoor Activity Award:
When this is first earned, it is awarded in the form of a pocket flap patch. Each subsequent time it is earned, a wolf track pin is added. The requirements differ for each rank, but can be found here or in Scoutbook under your child’s profile and awards.
What is Rally Night? It’s the equivalent of our Pack’s Open House. It is an opportunity for prospective scouts and their families to hear, see, touch, and experience samples of what Pack 378 has to offer. In addition, you can meet the leaders and ask questions.
When is it? Thursday, May 17th from 7-8 pm at New World United Methodist Church (outside if weather is nice or in the fellowship hall if not)
Who is invited? Families of boys and girls who will be entering Kindergarten through 5th grade as of Fall 2018 that are curious about Cub Scouts and Pack 378.
What is the cost? FREE!!
How do I sign-up? There’s no need to sign-up. Just show up!
I have other children who are too young/old for Cub Scouts. Can they come too? Absolutely, they can come…and participate! Cub Scouts is a family event.
Pack 378 has several opportunities for our scouts to enjoy some exciting Summer camps in 2018.
For scouts entering their Tiger year through Arrow of Light, Twilight Camp is a fun option. The Cross Timbers District will be holding its Twilight Camp Monday, June 11th through Friday, June 15th from 4:30 -9:00 pm daily. It includes activities that include BB, Archery, Sling Shots, Crafts, STEM activities, Water Activities, a Campfire program and much MORE!!
For scouts entering Webelos or Arrow of Light, there is a 4 day overnight opportunity at Webelos Resident Camp. This is held at Camp James Ray from July 8-11.
In both cases, camp card credits can be used to pay for all or part of youth and/or adult registration.
Pack 378 will be holding a registration event on Saturday, May 12th from 10 am – 12 pm. Registration forms will be available on site as well as leadership to answer questions. Below are the links to the forms for both camps if you would like to fill them out in advance. In both cases, a medical release form (updated within the past year from the last date of the camp) will also be required for each camper. Medical release forms for scouts will need an updated immunization record with date as well. We will also need a front and back copy of your insurance card.
